The Wood County Forest is operated according to the "County Forest Comprehensive Land Use Plan", otherwise known as the "Fifteen Year Plan".

The Fifteen Year Plan is a requirement of state statute 28.11, and establishes policies and guidance for the management of the County Forest. The Fifteen Year Plan is developed through the input of The State of Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, Wood County, local townships, various user groups, other stakeholders, and general public comment.
