Lake Dexter & Lake Wazeecha Drawdowns

Posted 9/17/2015 by hgehrt@co.wood.wi.us
The Wood County Park and Forestry Department would like to announce that, beginning on Monday, September 28, 2015, Lake Dexter will be drawn down a total of 3’ for the purpose of bridge repairs on State Highway 80.
The drawdown will take place in two stages. Starting on Monday, September 28th, the water level will be lowered 4” per day. Once the level is down 1’, this level will be maintained until cranberry harvest operations are completed on an adjoining marsh. The level will then be dropped another 2’, for a maximum drawdown of 3’ total. This level will be maintained until the bridge repairs have been completed. Refilling of the lake will begin no later than November 1, 2015 at a rate not to exceed 6” per day.
Due to this drawdown, the boat landings at Lake Dexter may become unusable.

Also beginning on Monday, September 28, 2015, Lake Wazeecha will be drawn down a total of 2’ for the purpose of dam maintenance and repairs.
The 2’ drawdown water level will be maintained throughout the winter. The lake will begin to be refilled, at a rate of 6” per day, once the ice is off the lake in the Spring of 2016. Starting on Monday, September 28th, the water level will be lowered 4” per day, until the maximum of 2’ is completed.
